Bekah’s Story

On September 28th, our beautiful Rebekah had a significant grand mal seizure. After hours in the ER, it was determined that she had an invasive tumor in her right frontal lobe. The tumor was intertwined with all of the vessels and nerves that control the motor function on the left side of her body.

Immediate surgery was performed, and the surgeon was able to remove approximately 90% of the offending mass, leaving Bekah with NO deficits! Recovery from the surgery has been rocky, but she’s made it through the hard part of that chapter after medication adjustments and a few scary trips back to the ER.

While she has maintained all of her motor function, and no paralysis, seizures are now a part of Bekah’s daily life. Epilepsy became an official diagnosis added to her medical chart. This puts a lot of restrictions on her daily life. She is now unable to drive, unable to work, and is required to take an entire pharmacy of medications every day to keep her seizures under control. She is having to find her new normals; learning herself, her triggers, and the signs her body is showing her.

Recently, and unfortunately - pathology results revealed her tumor is “an aggressive, high-grade infiltrating glioma.” For those that don’t speak doctor, this means we’ve added malignant brain cancer to the diagnosis list, as well.

Bekah is to start chemotherapy and radiation in the coming days to treat the mass surgery couldn’t remove. We, as her family and loved ones, bring this to everyone to ask for help supporting our beautiful daughter/sister/friend. Bekah’s existing bills, future treatments, previous hospital stays, and her daily medications are very expensive to put it lightly. As much as we would love to support her on our own, it is just not feasible. So we’re doing what we’re called to as humans, and reaching out to our community for help.

We are so eternally grateful for all the love and support we have already received. It has not gone unnoticed or unappreciated in any capacity. Any and all donations are absolutely appreciated. And to those who cannot donate but have continued the prayers and good vibes sent our way - that is more than enough & we ask that you’d continue those things above all.

To further support Bekah there will be “Her Fight Is Our Fight” merchandise for sale to help support her daily needs. All proceeds will go directly to Bekah - use code HERFIGHT to earn free shipping over $75! She has also made a chemotherapy and radiation wishlist on Amazon. She will be receiving treatment for a minimum of a year, so these items will be incredibly helpful now and for the future!
